The Course
The Coimbatore Golf Course is a Championship grade Par 72 golf course. There are 2 Tees, White with 6540 yds and Red with 5893 yds. The playing experience is heavily influenced by the seasons. Strong Westerly winds during May to September make the course the most challenging. The relatively weaker Easterlies during October-January transform the way the course used to play. During the summer months from February to April, the winds are relatively calm, and the course is perhaps its easiest.
The greens are Bermuda grass, with tournament speeds upto 10.5 on the stimp meter. Usual speeds are around 9. The fairways, greens and tee boxes are irrigated by an automated sprinkler system. The rough is solely reliant on rainfall. The rough can be very daunting at certain times of the year and quite easy during others. Regular play at Coimbatore Golf Club is therefore almost never boring!
At Coimbatore Golf Club, strong emphasis is placed on proper conduct while playing. Cell phones may not be carried onto the course. Players must show consideration for others while on the course. Players must ensure that bunkers are raked, divots are filled and pitchmarks are repaired. Players must play at a good pace and in case a quicker group catches up, they must invite that group to play through. All scorecards must be dropped as soon as possible after the completion of the round. Members are not permitted to enter their score directly onto the WHS, this will be only done by the club.
